Where to Find KFED Utility Before Oracle Grid Infrastructure is Installed

GoalYou would like to know where to find kfed utility before Oracle Grid Infrastructure is installed.
kfod is available in the source software but not kfed utility.


Solution Unfortunately kfed is not available at the source of the software, so there are two options:

1. Support engineer can get the first 10 MB of the disks and run kfod for the customer.

Example:
dd if=/dev/rhdisk4 of=/tmp/dd_backup.out bs=1024k count=10

2. Or after GI is reinstalled, save required kfed libraries:

For example, 11.2.0.3 GI on Linux 64-bit

NOTE:Other utilities are available for determining the status of a disk's header which should fulfill the business need.
V$ASM_DISK from an ASM instance;
asmcmd lsdsk;
kfod.
kfed is a utility that should only be used under the guidance of Oracle support.
