SymptomsAfter channel failover during restore from tape RMAN fails with ANU2614E error:
ORA-19507: failed to retrieve sequential file, handle="<handle>", parms=""
ORA-27029: skgfrtrv: sbtrestore returned error
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
ANU2614E Invalid sequence of function calls to Data Protection for Oracle
CauseChannel failover fails because TSM has returned an error.
This issue is specific to Tivoli and the subject of Bug 3041943: RESTORE DATABASE NOT CLEANING UP ALLOCATED CHANNEL IF FAILURE
When we failover to another backuppiece , we call sbtclose2 to cleanup the previously requested backuppiece before requesting the next backuppiece. TSM is expecting us to call sbtend - therefore when we do request the next backuppiece TSM returns an error ‘ANU2614E Invalid sequence of function calls to Data Protection for Oracle’.
Bug 3041943 has been closed 45 - Vendor OS Problem. TSM needs to change their code such that following a failure on an sbt channel, the channel is allowed to cleanup (sbtclose) instead of terminating (sbtend) to allow for channel failover.
SolutionContact TSM for a resolution.
In this case, the customer was using Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle: version 5.5.2.0
